India Eyes Glory at Inaugural World Boxing Championships 2025
Indian boxers head into the tournament in top form, having secured an impressive 17 medals across the World Boxing Cups in Brazil and Kazakhstan.
India is set to make a powerful statement at the inaugural World Boxing Championships 2025, taking place from September 4 to 14 in Liverpool. Led by Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain and World Champion Nikhat Zareen, the 20-member Indian squad will battle it out against top-tier global talent across as many categories. After a stellar run at the World Boxing Cups earlier this year, India enters the biennial tournament with high confidence and solid international form.

The team’s recent successes include a six-medal haul in Brazil, highlighted by Hitesh’s gold and Abhinash Jamwal’s silver. The momentum continued in Kazakhstan, where India secured 11 medals, including three golds—one of them claimed by heavyweight champion Nupur Sheoran. These performances underscore the growing depth and versatility in India’s boxing ranks, boosting expectations for the nation to deliver its best-ever showing on the world stage.
