ISRO Gears Up for Landmark CMS-03 Mission Aboard LVM3
ISRO is set to launch the 4,400 kg CMS-03 communication satellite aboard its heavy-lift LVM3 on 2nd November, 2025, marking a milestone in India’s advanced space communication capabilities.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is poised for another milestone as its heavy-lift launch vehicle LVM3 is set to launch the CMS-03 communication satellite on November 2, 2025. This mission marks the fifth operational flight of the LVM3, further cementing its role as the backbone of India’s advanced space missions.

Weighing 4,400 kilograms, CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite designed to deliver enhanced telecommunication, broadcasting, and data services across the Indian subcontinent and surrounding oceanic regions. With this mission, CMS-03 will become the heaviest communication satellite ever launched to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) from Indian soil, underscoring ISRO’s growing capabilities in high-capacity payload delivery. The LVM3 has already proven its reliability and strength in previous missions, most notably when it powered Chandrayaan-3, which made India the first nation to successfully land near the lunar south pole — a historic feat that drew global acclaim. The upcoming CMS-03 mission thus continues the legacy of excellence associated with ISRO’s flagship launch vehicle.

The fully integrated LVM3-CMS-03 stack was rolled out to the launch pad on October 26, 2025, signaling the commencement of final pre-launch checks and rehearsals. Engineers and mission specialists are now in the last stages of preparation, ensuring all systems perform flawlessly ahead of the scheduled lift-off.

With CMS-03, ISRO aims to bolster India’s digital infrastructure and expand the nation’s communication network capabilities, further advancing its mission to make space technology a cornerstone of national development. As the countdown begins, the upcoming launch not only represents a technological triumph but also reaffirms India’s position as a leading player in global space exploration and satellite services.
